Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set the initial date?
When you first open BibliCal, you'll be prompted to set the initial Biblical date. This establishes the starting point for the calendar. You can adjust this later in the app settings if needed.
How do I confirm a new moon sighting?
On days 29 and 30 of the current month, BibliCal will prompt you to confirm whether a new moon was sighted. This determines when the next month begins. If no new moon is sighted on day 29, the month continues to day 30, and the new month begins on day 31 (which becomes day 1 of the next month).
How do I enable calendar export?
Calendar export is an optional feature. To enable it:
  1. Open the app Settings
  2. Find the "Calendar Export" option
  3. Enable the feature and select which calendar on your device to use
  4. The app will then write Biblical month starts and feast days to your selected calendar
Note: This feature requires calendar permissions, which you can revoke at any time in Android settings.
How do I change notification settings?
You can manage notifications in the app Settings:
  1. Open the app Settings
  2. Navigate to "Notifications"
  3. Toggle the persistent notification on or off
  4. Adjust notification preferences as desired
You can also disable notifications entirely through Android's system settings for the app.
Why does the app need location permissions?
BibliCal uses your location to calculate local sunset times, which determine when Biblical days begin (Biblical days start at sunset, not midnight). Your location data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted or shared. If you deny location permissions, the app will use default coordinates as a fallback. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
How does the Aviv barley prompt work?
At the end of the 12th month, BibliCal will prompt you about the Aviv barley status. This determines whether the year continues with a 13th month (intercalary month) or if the new year begins. If the Aviv barley is not ready, you add a 13th month. If it is ready, the new year begins.
Can I use the app offline?
Yes! BibliCal works completely offline. It does not require an internet connection for any of its features. All calculations are performed locally on your device.
